QUEBEC — Quebec health officials are investigating a death they believe is related to an adverse reaction to the H1N1 vaccine.

Dr. Horacio Arruda, Quebec's director of public health protection, called it a very rare case. The person, who was in his or her 80s, died in the last three weeks. No gender or hometown was given out.

Arruda told a Quebec City news conference on Tuesday that 23 people in the province have had severe adverse reactions to the vaccine.

But he insists there is no evidence the vaccine is dangerous.

Arruda notes that most severe reactions occur within 15 minutes of an inoculation.

The swine flu has been blamed for 37 deaths in Quebec since Aug. 30.

About 1.5 million Quebecers have been given the shot.
