FDA Approves FluLaval Vaccine for Swine Flu

The FDA have granted approval to a new swine flu vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline
Boston (DbTechNo) - The FDA have granted approval to a new swine flu vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.
The vaccine is actually a modified version of the company’s FluLaval seasonal flu vaccine, and was adjusted to include the H1N1 strain.
The US government have ordered more than 7 million doses of the vaccine, to stockpile and distribute as needed.
In total the US has ordered more than 250 million doses of swine flu vaccine from drug makers, and will order more as it becomes available.
Glaxo hopes to begin shipping the vaccine, which is actually being made in Canada, this December.
Swine flu has killed thousands of people worldwide since April when the initial outbreak was confirmed in the country of Mexico.
